WordPress NoFollowFree Edition

WordPress ohne nofollow? Und das ohne Plugin? Kein Problem, die Lösung: WordPress NoFollowFree Edition! Auch als Update/Patch verfügbar.

Auf blogcraft wird es das Blogsystem WordPress in einer angepassten Version geben, und zwar werde ich den Core von WordPress von dem nofollow-Attribut befreien, da dort draußen im weiten Internet definitiv ein Bedarf an “folgenden” WordPress Blogs vorherrscht. Nicht umsonst sind sehr oft Plugins mit dem Namen NoFollow Free oder DoFollow anzutreffen.

Auch gibt es Hacks, um die follow-Fähigkeit direkt im WordPress Theme zu integrieren (bzw. wird dort das selbe gemacht, was auch die Plugins tun: einfaches Entfernen von rel=”nofollow” aus den Kommentaren).

Damit dies alles nicht mehr nötig ist, möchte ich den Besuchern und Lesern von blogcraft etwas zurückgeben, ein WordPress, das wieder ganz normal funktioniert und ge-follow-te Links überall anbietet (es sei denn, der Nutzer deklariert ganz bewusst seine Links mit bestimmten Attributen).

Die NoFollowFree-Edition wird es für die deutsche WordPress-Version sowie auch für die originale Version von wordpress.org geben, zusätzlich werden die veränderten Dateien als separates Paket angeboten, damit kein komplettes Update nötig ist.

Achtung! Wer auch nach einem neuen Release die NoFollowFree-Edition benutzen möchte, darf nicht die Auto-Update-Funktion von WordPress benutzen. Alternativ wartet man bis auch hier das neue Release vorhanden ist, lässt dann automatisch aktualisieren und spielt sich dann nur noch die gepatchten Dateien auf.

I have made a nofollow free edition of WordPress. Since version 2.7.1 I will distribute a full package and a smaller one (only with the patched files). You can download the packages above (in the list).

Attention! With version 2.8.1 I will only distribute the patched files, no full WordPress package! That means, you need a fully working WordPress before patching!

Later I will set up a better archive page, but for the first release it isn’t important.

The patch only includes the modification to free the commenters and comment links from the nofollow attribut. The whole core of WordPress has some more points of nofollows but not necessary for me to clean up. (Some administration pages and some internal links -the reply link for example- will still have this attribute.)

Please feel free to download, test and give feedback if needed — but i won’t give a real support! Because it is only a small patch so far.

Hopefully in the future the WordPress developers will make their own mods to give the users the ability of setting up how to work with comment nofollows. From this day I will discontinue this project. But I think this day will never come up …
